The Games organizing Committee of the Sol2023 Pacific Games is calling on all public transport service providers to submit their interest to provide transport services for the period of the 2023 Pacific Games in Honiara and Guadalcanal.

During a Tender briefing session for local public transport operators on 25 May 2022, GOC Senior Manager Venues and Operations Jack Smith outlined GOC’s Transport Master Plan. The plan indicates all classifications of Transport Designations, Transport Type, Clients and Number of vehicles that will be be required during the three weeks.

According to the plans GOC will need at least 400 vehicles that includes: 15-seater buses, 25-seater buses, sedans, Rav4’s, hilux’s and pick-up trucks for the 3 weeks games operations. Not only will GOC be needing vehicles, GOC will also be hiring around 200 drivers to man the buses and sedans.

The GOC will then set up a fleet which will coordinate the movement of each vehicle hired during that period. All vehicles will be paid a daily rate according to the specificity of their trips per day whilst fuel for the cars and food for the drivers will also be provided on the fleet base.

Service providers that are eager to participate should ensure that their vehicles are not more than 5 years old, are regularly maintained with fully functioning air conditioning and up to date service. Also, the vehicle needs to have valid registration from both MID, HCC and Guadalcanal licensing authorities.

The GOC are looking for transportations services that will cater for both both GOC operations and non-GOC personnel (may include trips organized separately by teams).

According to Mr. Smith, transportation of equipment, accessories and personnel to and from games venues, dinning locations and games villages will be a massive operation since we are expecting 5,000 inbound Athletes and Officials in country starting November 14th, 2023 until the close of Games on 4th December.

The current closing date for the Expression of Interest for public transport service provider has not been mentioned however interested applicant have been advised to attend the two remaining tender briefing on:

Day 2. Friday 27th May, 2022 @3.00pm - 5.00pm and
Day 3. Saturday 28th May, 2022 @9.00am-11.00am.

The venue is at the AJ Mall Conference Centre, Level 5, Lungga, East Honiara.
