SISCC Updates PM on Possible Redundancy Alternatives for CS2

Solomon Islands Submarine Cable Company (SISCC) CEO has updated update Prime Minister Hon. Manasseh Sogavare MP on efforts to secure a second international cable for Solomon Islands. The need for the redundant or backup international submarine cable has been demonstrated by the catastrophic experience of Tonga when it lost its single international cable at the beginning of 2022 and by the cable disruption in PNG following the earthquake on September 11th 2022.

Almost half of all the 50 solar streetlights that were installed by the SHEFA Provincial Government Council (SPGC) in 2021 at Beverly Hills, Bladiniere, and Blacksand areas under the “Let there be light” project, have been destroyed in the Tropical Cyclone (TC) Judy on Wednesday, 1st of March 2023.
