NHA and SDA mission sign MOU

The National Hosting Authority (NHA) and the Seventh-Day Adventist Church - Solomon Islands have signed a MOU for China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) to use the SDA land opposite Maranatha Hall, as a borrow site for the back filling of the National Stadium project sites.

The back fill is necessary after engineers confirmed the need to raise the level of the project site to the level of the Japanese International Coorporation Agency (JICA) designed road. This will avoid potential problems with flooding the sporting facilities.

Construction of facilities at the proposed 2023 Pacific Games Sport precinct at KGVI east Honiara continues as 2021 enter its second quarter.

In an interview with Pacific Tenders the Project Manager for CCECC Mr. Huang Peng project that clearance and excavation work would have completed in July.

PM announces new dates for PG 2023

Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare has announced that the dates for the Pacific Games 2023 has been moved from 29th July 2023 to 19th of November through to 2nd of December 2023.

The Prime Minister in a special address today said the decision came about following a meeting by the Executive Board of the Pacific Games Council at its meeting on Friday 2nd of July 2021.

SIG and PRC sign the feasibility study Minutes for the proposed PG2023 Games Village

The Solomon Islands Ministry of the Foreign Affairs and External Trade on behalf of the Solomon Islands Government, and the People’s Republic of China, this week,  signed the feasibility study Meeting Minutes for the proposed SINU Dormitory Project that will be used for 2023 Pacific Games Village.

The signing was done on behalf of the People’s Republic of China by Counsellor Rui Gong and by the Assistant Secretary (Asia and Africa Political Desk) Gladys Luahiti Isihanua on behalf of Solomon Islands Government, in Honiara.

Practice Track and Football Field set to complete by December

Work on the Main stadium for the 2023 Pacific Games in Honiara has progressed smoothly with the site clearance work completed by the end of May.

According to CCECC General Manager Huang Peng, site preparation, clearance and fencing are almost complete on separate lots. Lot 1 is where the SIFF office complex used to be and lot 2 is at the KGVI school area.

Since the groundbreaking ceremony earlier this month, clearance and fencing of both lots have progressed and excavation work is expected soon after in June.

Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare stated in his speech at the ground breaking ceremony of the PG 2023 Stadium Wednesday this week.

The Prime Minister said the Henderson Airport upgrade, Kukum Highway project are some of the major developments that are also in progress.

Main Stadium construction to be of high quality and low Maintenance cost

Solomon Islands Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare has assured the nation that the up and coming main Stadium for the Pacific Games in 2023 will be of the highest quality with reasonably low maintenance cost.

Prime Minister Sogavare made this statement during the official ground breaking ceremony on 5 May 2021 to kick start the multi-million dollar facility which will be constructed within an area of 14.95 hectare in sports City East Honiara.

CCECC Awarded contract to build 2023 Pacific Games Stadium

China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) has successfully been awarded the contract to construct the 2023 Pacific Games Stadium Project.

Construction is expected to start in May this year (2021), straight after the groundbreaking ceremony on the 5th of May 2021.

SINIS to be opened in May

Solomon Islands Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare, members of Cabinet and officials from the Office of the Prime Minister were given an extensive tour around the almost complete Solomon Islands National Institute of Sports (SINIS) complex built in preperation for the Sol2023 Pacific Games in Honiara.

Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare was impressed with the construction progress made so far on the Solomon Islands Sports Institute (SIIS) during a visit to the site on 16 March.
