The Solomon Islands Government through the Ministry of Commerce, Industries, Labour and Immigration is now advertising the consultancy position for suitable qualified candidates or consultancy firms in providing the following services

  1. Kirakira Lavado Processing Factory Technical Advisor
    1. Background

The Pinihimae and Associate Group Company aims to set up a Lavado Cocoa Factory and storage facility to produce high quality finished products for the local and international markets.

The proposal is to set up a small scale cocoa processing factory and storage centre at Kirakira to be run by the indigenous entrepreneur named Pihinimae and Associate Group Company together with provincial Government of Makira Ulawa province, National Government and other stakeholders.

2. Purpose

The setup is small scale cocoa processing factory and storage thus MCILI is seeking an experienced, geotechnical engineering firm/individual to complete a geotechnical studies and recommendation for the lavado Cocoa processing factory.

3. Objective of the assignment

  1. Conduct a geotechnical studies on the site for the proposed lavodo cocoa processing factory.
  2. Complete an assessment of the investigation analysis the cocoa processing factory
  3. Complete and report on the findings and recommendation to be used in the design development stage of the project

4. Scope of Work

  1. The consultant will be required to scope the proposed site, to confirm that it is suitable for proposed development.
  2. The report must also identify the inherent geological hazards and discuss its impact on the proposed development and recommend on mitigating factors
  3. The consultant is required to visit the site and undertake necessary field work at the proposed project site to meet the objectives of the study.
  4. The report from the exercise will need to consider the staged approach and be tailored to suit the Master Plan.
  5. The consultant will be required before submitting final documents, a draft report should be submitted to the technical committee for review, feedback and comments.
  6. The consultant shall work closely with the Project Steering Committee (PSC) to ensure the design work reflects the standard required by the Client.

Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the following services (description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff etc.). Consultants may associate to enhance their qualifications.

A consultant will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the Solomon Islands Government Procurement Manual and Financial Instructions.
