World Vision Solomon Islands Invites applications from Interested and qualified candidates for the following position:

  • Early Childhood care Education Project Coordinator to be based in Makira Area Program.

PURPOSE POSITION:

To provide Project Management for the WV/MEHRD Education Authority Strengthening Project, including reporting requirements, and implementing the project according to the contractual agreement and budget. The Project Coordinator will provide strong technical support and expertise to support the Makira Education Authority in implementing new national early childhood education policy in the province .the position also will serve to represent World Vision locally in the communities, and to network with Makira provincial government and other stakeholders in the communities to support project implementation. The project Coordinator will lead and manage the project team in order to achieve the agreed terms of the project.

The position requires:

Project management and reporting

  • Ensure the project is implemented according to the contractual agreement with MEHRD, achieving the deliverables on time and on budget.
  • Ensure effective project initiation at the onset of the project.

Education Policy Technical Support

  • Show a strong understanding of MEHRD policies, National Education Action Plan, Provincial Education Action Plan and Education Strategic Framework (ESF)
  • Assist Provincial Education Authority to increase their understanding of policies and ESF,
  • Support the Makira Education Authority in translating MEHRD policies and ESF in to Operational plans through strategic planning, developing new approaches and communication strategies.

Representation & Networking

  • Represent WV at community meetings, inception workshops with stakeholders, sharing of project progress and lessons learned.
  • Meeting with provincial government around obtaining technical support or providing inputs to government sector workshops, and providing updates at the request of the Area Manager.

People Leadership and Team Management

  • Provide leadership to the project team members.
  • Support recruitment and orientation of new staff, and lead inception for project staff in collaboration with Area Manager and Sector Coordinator.

Capacity Building

  • Coordinate with sector Coordinator on technical capacity building and ongoing support for the project from WV and extremely.
  • Directly provide technical capacity building to project staff and Makira Education Authority, and guide on project management principles and operational plans.
